Famed NASCAR Driver Stabbed Near SoCal Home

Former NASCAR driver, 38-year-old Robert East or "Bobby" was fatally stabbed at a gas station on Wednesday, July 13th in Orange County, California.  

He was taken to the University of California Irvine Medical Center where he died from his injuries.

Police name the suspect in the stabbing as 28-year-old Trent William Milsap who was killed on Friday in an "officer-involved shooting". Investigators are unclear about the motive.

NASCAR released a statement saying it was "saddened to learn of the tragic death of Bobby East. We extend our deepest and heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Bobby, a true racer."
