Trial Continues For CPD Officer Over Police Actions During 2020 Protest

(Columbus, OH) -- A misdemeanor criminal trial is continuing for Columbus Police Sergeant Holly Kanode. 

She faces falsification and dereliction of duty charges for allegedly making untrue claims about a protester during a downtown demonstration in 2020. A special prosecutor hired by the city presented video evidence in court yesterday that she says proves the protester did not break any laws.

Defense attorneys argue that Kanode did not intentionally misrepresent any facts.
